CLIENT OVERVIEW

Bloom is a small, local cafe and bakery that is inspired by Asian flavors. Founded by a group of students at Cal Poly who craved more diverse culinary options at their PWI (Predominantly White Institution) school, Bloom opened its doors with the vision of bringing a unique culinary experience to their community in San Luis Obispo. Over the years, it has become a beloved spot for students and locals alike.

As a small business, Bloom is run by a small team of baristas and bakers to create a blend of Asian-inspired flavors and comforting baked goods. Bloom offers an array of freshly baked pastries, cakes, and bread, infused with Asian-inspired ingredients such as matcha, black sesame, yuzu, and red bean. Their menu also features specialty coffees, teas, and refreshing beverages to complement their baked treats.

CLIENT RESEARCH

Founded by students from Cal Poly, Bloom embodies authenticity and fosters a strong sense of community, resonating with its target audience and creating a loyal customer base with a younger demographic. Primarily college students aged 18-24, with a diverse mix of ethnicities and backgrounds but with an interest in Asian cuisines and flavors. Bloom is located in San Luis Obispo, California, near the Cal Poly campus, but also downtown.

The target audience wants diverse culinary options beyond what campus dining offers. They want a comforting and welcoming environment that values convenience and affordability, given their busy schedules and limited budgets.
