what is haul pass?
Haul Pass is a clothing network designed to incorporate the main aspects of the clothing industry into one platform. The purpose of the company is to find an audience for clothing brands who use their service and allow people to make money off of their style and passion for clothes without the need to be a social media personality.
The main appeal of their service over others is the Feed and Closet, which is always giving users clothes to browse, save, or purchase that they can then add to their style as an individual.
CURRENT DESIGN ??
MY ROLE
CLOSET
MOODBOARDS
LO-FI SCREENS
Our client came to us looking for a dynamic partner to elevate their digital presence. They had already laid down a solid vision for their website, but were eager for fresh, innovative ideas to streamline user systems and revamp page designs, as long as the core objectives shone through in the user interface.
Here is their current design for Haul Pass:
I began crafting my lo-fi screens to brainstorm ways for users to effortlessly manage their favorite, owned and saved items. This page was like the user profile, but personal to the user, so my goal was to create a user-friendly, intuitive interface that offered extensive customization while keeping things simple.
role and responsibilities
As a UX Designer for this project, my primary focus was on designing the 'Closet' screens, a key component of the user experience.
overview of the closet feature
The 'Closet' is a crucial feature that allows users to manage their saved, owned, and liked items. Here's an in-depth look at its functionality:
User-Created Categories: Users can create custom categories for their closets, each with an uploadable cover picture. They can name these closets, with a limit of ten custom closets initially.
Predefined Closets: At the outset, three default closets are provided: Your Clothes, Liked Items, and Favorites.
Editable Collections: Within each closet, users can view and edit their collections. Collections are displayed with styles at the top and individual items underneath.
Adding Items: A prominent button on each collection page allows users to add items directly to their closet.
Creating Styles: Users can create new styles directly on the closet page.
Future Enhancements: Eventually, users will be able to upload their own clothes to the closet, enabling them to create personal styles.
To support Haul Pass with a visual identity, we began by creating moodboards to inspire the color palette, typography, and general image of the brand.
DESIGN SYSTEM
We then came up with several ideas for style guides highlighting specific typography and color combinations. Our client provided his input for a minimal style and black-and-white color palette.
Drawing from his initial logo designs, we developed a vector logo to encapsulate the brand.

NEXT STEPS
what’s next?
Conduct comprehensive usability testing to gather feedback from a diverse group of users. This will help identify any remaining issues and areas for improvement in the website's functionality and design. Based on the feedback from usability testing, iteratively refine and enhance the website. Focus on addressing any usability issues, design inconsistencies, and other pain points that users encounter. Our client has taken over the usability testing with our guidance.
REFLECTION
Special thanks to Cal Poly Iter8
If you made it this far – thanks for reading! Thank you again to my lovely team at Cal Poly Iter8. Here’s what I learned during this project
Establish a Good Design System
As we delved deeper into our individual parts of the website’s designs, it became evident how crucial it was to establish a solid design system and a clear vision in the beginning. With each of us bringing different design styles and visions to the table, a robust design system would not have only ensured consistency but also would have made it easier to integrate new ideas and updates later down the line.
Ask Lots of Questions
Working with a new group of people is intimidating, but I was lucky to have a really lovely and patient team. Through this project, I was able to learn so much more about Figma and prototyping, which are essential skills to develop. Ultimately, this was one of the most valuable learning experiences I’ve had the opportunity to receive during my time at Cal Poly and I’m very thankful.
